Get physical. Your creative mind will thank you.

The more you eat, the more you eat. The more you work, the more you work. The more you exercise, the more you create, what?

I always knew that sitting on the couch and eating Doritos, (while is amongst one of my favorite things to pass the time, aside from streaming Breaking Bad, which now that I think about, is a very complimentary duo,) it probably isn’t helping me creatively.

Lets face it, if you really want something done well, and on time, give it to the busiest person you know. The more a person has on their plate, the more they get done.

Lets be clear, the plate can’t be full of the same type of work. It has to be the right balance of tasks, such as; maybe its part menial or repetitive, mixed in with physical labor, and throw in some creative challenges. The right combination of tasks, can actually produce better results, and more specifically help you be more creative.

Dr. David M. Blanchette, BBA University of Massachusetts conducted a study where the potential effects of exercise, on creative potential, were explored both immediately following moderate exercise as well as after a two hour lag. The results were clear, sixty college students participated, supporting the idea that creative potential will be greater instantly upon finishing physical activity than when not (immediate effects), as well following a two hour lag time of exercise (residual effects.)

So if you’re experiencing a creative block of some kind, go ahead, get creative, and even better creativity will follow. Also, get Olivia Newton-John with your lazy bones, and “Get Physical!” Your creative mind will reward you for the work that your body did.
